Mentor/Tutor programs

 

Female and Male Mentor :

• Participating in community and social activities*

• Ensure that a clean and safe environment is maintained *

• Schedule and assist with completion of activities and skills development goals *

• Reliably report on time and as scheduled *

• Attend staff meetings and other training as required *

• Notify management of changes with individuals *

• Act as a role model in using appropriate language, dress, table manners, respect, and other behavior *

• Promote the rights of people receiving support and contribute to an environment that is free from abuse, neglect and/or exploitation.

• Preferred experience with skills in non-verbal and behavior management 

• Must be over 21

• Committed to working on a team

• Good communication skills

• A willingness to learn and develop new skills

• Valid I.D and able to pass a criminal background screening.

• Youth who meet proficiency requirements for their grade level are better prepared to meet needs of employers.

• Be abe to help and acheive in Reading*Writing*Math*ScienceSocial* studies

• Academically proficient with Communication skills* Presentation skillsTime *management skills

• Be able to devote up to two hours per week to tutoring

•  If a tutor is unable t o lead a scheduled tutoring session, the tutor must notify the program coordinator to permit the coordinator to schedule a substitute tutor

• Tutors do more than provide academic instruction. They also provide much needed: Conflicts resolution *Social support*Encouragement*Problem-solving* guidance

• Notify management of changes and difficulity with individuals

• Agree to have no personal communication outside of the tutor session with your student. The students will be known to each other by their first name and tutor by their last name.

• Must be over 18

• A good communication skills

• Valid I.D and able to pass a criminal background screening
